Commissioned by Merthyr county Council this pair of projects were produced for installation at Teddingtons field, near Cefn Coed Y Cymmer.
Designed by me with fabrication by artist blacksmith Glen Adams of Horizon Forge, The 1st project is a Daubenton bat sculpture with a 2m wingspan, which balances on top of a 4m tall tower. Fabricated from corten steel and using a system of bearings we developed on the Red Kite sculpture, the bat bobs and spins in the wind.
The second project was a set of new vehicle and pedestrian access gates into the field.
The design of both projects combined imagery inspired by the nearby Cyfartha Ironworks along with local flora and fauna.
